In February 2003 we took part in the Adam Nelson Chamber Music Festival, playing in Richmond and at the Seifried Winery.
On October 6th, the NZSO played in Osaka Symphony Hall, as part of an Asia Orchestra Week 2003.
The following day Nevine presented a program of New Zealand works at the Kuboso Memorial Museum in Izumi shi, on October 7th, in a concert under the auspices of the Izumi International Society.
The Kuboso Memorial Museum is well laid out and features a beautiful Japanese garden linked with it's concert hall. It houses paintings by such masters as Renoir, Monet, Degas, and Van Gogh, as well as collections of Japanese and Chinese ceramics.
The concert hall has a capacity of 120, but is just made for music, with the perfect acoustics. The interior finish is very simple but uses such elegant materials as marble, onyx and fine wood.
The program for the Nevine Quartet's performance included the world premiere of the new string quartet by New Zealand composer Anthony Ritchie.
